Sur Sarovar Bird Sanctuary, popularly known as Keetham Lake, is a real and increasingly popular tourist attraction located on the Delhi‑Agra Highway, just 30 km from Agra city in Uttar Pradesh. Declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1991, the protected wetland spans about 8 sq km and hosts more than 126 species of migratory and resident waterfowl, including sarus cranes, bar-headed geese and various ducks. Visitors can also spot mammals such as hog deer, spotted deer, nilgai and monitor lizards while strolling along shaded trails and wooden boardwalks. The best time to visit Sur Sarovar Bird Sanctuary Agra is during the winter months (November to February) when the migratory bird population peaks, creating excellent bird‑watching and photography opportunities. Entry fees are modest – INR 30 for Indian nationals and INR 200 for foreign tourists – and the sanctuary is open daily from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. Tips for a smooth visit include carrying binoculars, arriving early to catch sunrise activity, wearing comfortable shoes, and respecting wildlife by staying on designated paths. The site is family‑friendly, ideal for nature lovers, photographers and anyone seeking a peaceful escape near Agra.
