About this place

Commissioned by Hyder Ali in 1760 and developed by his son Tipu Sultan, Lalbagh is one of India's oldest and most diverse botanical gardens. Spread over 240 acres in central Bengaluru, it houses over 1,800 plant species, a Glass House inspired by London's Crystal Palace (host to the famous biannual flower show), the 3,000-million-year-old Lalbagh Rock, and a 19th-century Bandstand.
