About this place
Built from the late 16th century by Raja Man Singh I and expanded by successive Kachwaha rulers, Amber Fort is a hybrid of Rajput and Mughal architecture in pale yellow and pink sandstone with white marble. Its mirrored Sheesh Mahal, Diwan-e-Aam, Diwan-e-Khas and Maota Lake reflections make it Jaipur's most photographed monument. Part of the UNESCO Hill Forts of Rajasthan inscription.

Open daily 8 am to 5:30 pm. The evening sound-and-light show in English runs at 7:30 pm.

How do I reach Amber from Jaipur?
Amber is 11 km north of Jaipur old city, about 30 minutes by car. Local buses run from Hawa Mahal Road. Elephant and jeep rides are available from the foot of the hill.
Can I ride an elephant to the top?
Elephant rides up to the Sun Pol gate are available in the morning (9 am to noon), subject to availability and a daily cap set by the state government.
What's the best time to visit?
Early morning — before the elephant queues and tour-bus groups arrive. October to March for cool weather; avoid the hot summer afternoons.
