Jagdish Temple
Jagdish Chowk, Old City, Udaipur, Rajasthan
About this place
Built by Maharana Jagat Singh I in 1651, the Jagdish Temple is the largest temple in Udaipur and stands just 150 metres north of the City Palace's Bara Pol gate. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, it is a fine example of the Maru-Gurjara temple architecture of Rajasthan, with intricately carved pillars, painted ceilings and four subsidiary shrines around a tall central spire.
